Job description

Description provided by Blocks

Why this role

Most finance working students reconcile spreadsheets for a department of twenty. At Blocks you work directly with the CFO and the founders, in a company that is scaling fast, opening its US business and running its finance on AI agents. You will see how a fast-growing startup is actually run, from the numbers investors look at to the systems behind them.

About Blocks

Blocks builds Autonomous Cloud Control: software that cuts AWS costs for startups and scale-ups automatically. We are an AWS partner, growing fast, and launching our US company in New York. Our finance team is small on purpose: AI agents do the routine work, and people do the thinking.

What you will do

  • Founder-level finance: work side by side with the CFO on the monthly close, cash and KPI reporting that goes to the founders and the board.
  • US expansion: help build the finance stack for our new US entity: banking, billing, accounting and the processes that connect two countries.
  • AI in practice: work with the latest AI tools and agents (Claude and others) that already book invoices and reconcile payments, and find the next task to automate.
  • Core finance: receivables, payment runs and our AWS invoices, the backbone of our business.

What you bring

  • Student of business, finance, economics or a related field, enrolled for at least 12 more months
  • Bookkeeping basics; HGB, DATEV or sevdesk is a plus
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets, and real curiosity about AI and automation
  • Fluent German (C1+) and good English
  • 20 hours a week, 2 days of them in our Berlin office

What we offer

  • Real responsibility from day one, and a direct line to the CFO and founders
  • A front-row seat to a fundraise and a US launch, experience few students get
  • The newest AI tools, and time to learn and build with them
  • €18 per hour, 12-month contract with the option to extend, flexible around your exams
  • A strong start for a career in finance, startups or venture capital
