BITA is a Fintech company with the mission of disrupting the index and systematic investment industry. Through advanced software, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and high-quality data, we empower our clients to develop innovative investment products faster, more flexibly, and at a lower cost. We are a young and dynamic team of more than 60 people located across the world unified by a strong belief that the investment industry is ready for a new challenger.
BITA’s Product Development team is looking for an Index Product Development Intern who is motivated to go beyond a standard internship and contribute meaningfully to the design and implementation of new investment products. You will gain exposure to the entire lifecycle of index development – from research and methodology design to coding, backtesting, and implementation – with the opportunity to take ownership of small projects and work with a high degree of independence.
You will work directly with the leadership team to help us drive innovative index products and technology solutions out of the gates. You will collaborate in a flat and flexible structure, with an international employee base working from different locations and a Product Development Team based in Frankfurt am Main.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in Product Development: Support the product development lifecycle by researching, designing, and implementing index methodologies. Develop, oversee, and maintain quantitative models and index methodologies
- Data Analysis & Backtesting: Conduct data analysis and backtest index concepts on our industry-leading indexing software to validate product ideas and ensure they meet performance criteria.
- Market Research: Research trends and market demand to inform the development of new index products or adjustments to existing products.
- Documentation: Prepare clear and detailed documentation of index methodologies, backtest results, and product specifications.
- Support Client Interactions: Assist in creating product presentations, for client meetings and marketing purposes.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with the technology, operations, and sales teams to ensure a smooth development process from concept to launch.
- Process Improvement: Ensure the highest standards of quality in our index calculation and data production activities.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering or equivalent degree
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with experience in handling large datasets and building financial models in Excel.
- Technical Affinity: Ability to learn and master the use of new software products, as well as contribute to the improvement and testing process
- Financial Knowledge: Good understanding of financial markets, financial instruments, and investment products. Familiarity with index concepts is preferred.
- Proactive attitude: High work initiative, passion for financial markets and a desire to learn about product development in the index space.
- Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to tasks, particularly when conducting data analysis and documentation.
- Communication Skills: Business fluent in English. Ability to convey complex concepts clearly in both written and verbal forms.
Nice to have:
- Previous experience in the financial service industry
- Python programming skills/experience for data analysis and backtesting
- Previous entrepreneurial experience
- German or Spanish language knowledge
