Internship – Observability Engineering for Cloud-Based Data Analytics (w/m/d)

In this internship, you will become part of a technology-driven engineering team within AUDI AG that develops and operates a cloud-based platform for the analysis of vehicle measurement and trace data. This platform processes data at petabyte scale and supports data-driven engineering decisions across the company. To continuously improve such a system, we need to understand how it is actually used and how it behaves in daily operation. Every analysis run produces valuable information about usage, runtimes, and resource consumption – information we want to capture systematically and turn into meaningful insights. In your internship, you will gain practical insights into how modern cloud systems collect, store, and analyze their own operational data. You will work closely with experienced software engineers and cloud specialists and contribute directly to a productive system used by engineers throughout the company. The internship offers you the opportunity to see how observability and data analytics are applied in an industrial context.

Aufgaben

• You define meaningful metrics that describe the usage and performance of a cloud-based data analytics platform
• You extend the platform so that execution and usage statistics are captured and stored in a central data platform
• You design suitable data models for these statistics
• You build analyses and dashboards that make system behavior transparent
• You derive insights and improvement opportunities from the collected data
• You work closely with software engineers and contribute your results directly to the product

Qualifikation

• You are currently pursuing a degree in computer science, software engineering, data engineering, or a comparable technical field
• You possess very good English skills in written and spoken form; German language skills are a plus
• You bring initial experience with Linux-based systems and cloud or server environments
• You demonstrate programming experience in Java; knowledge of Scala is an advantage
• You are familiar with version control systems, such as GitHub
• You have initial experience with SQL, Databricks, Elasticsearch, or monitoring tools
• You possess a strong analytical mindset and enjoy working with data, metrics, and technical systems
• The final internship period will be agreed upon during the interview with the respective department.
