Description provided by ATMOS Space Cargo
Job Description
ATMOS Space Cargo is seeking an FPGA Design Intern (m/f/d) to support the development of the programmable logic in the avionics of our PHOENIX return systems. You will work alongside experienced avionics and FPGA engineers, helping to implement, simulate, and verify designs on AMD devices, and you will see your work carried through to test campaigns on real flight hardware.
Key Responsibilities
- You will assist in implementing and verifying FPGA designs on AMD devices such as Zynq UltraScale+ and RFSoC.
- You will write and test RTL modules in VHDL or Verilog for data processing, sensor interfaces, and communication interfaces.
- You will build test benches and run simulations to verify module behavior against requirements.
- You will support synthesis, implementation, and timing analysis runs in AMD Vivado under the guidance of senior engineers.
- You will help prepare and run laboratory tests on development boards and avionics hardware, and document the results.
- You will contribute to design documentation, interface definitions, and test records.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of VHDL or Verilog from coursework, lab projects, or personal projects.
- Familiarity with digital design fundamentals such as clocking, state machines, and synchronous logic.
- First exposure to an FPGA toolchain, ideally AMD Vivado.
- Interest in embedded systems, avionics, or space applications.
- A structured, hands-on working style and the willingness to ask questions and learn quickly.
- Good written and spoken English; German or French is a plus.
- Available for a minimum of three months.
Preferred Qualifications
- First experience with AMD or Xilinx device families such as Zynq UltraScale+, RFSoC, or Kintex and Virtex UltraScale+.
- Experience with simulation tools and test bench development.
- Basic scripting skills in Python or Tcl.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
