Your location

At the Airbus site in Immenstaad on Lake Constance, you’ll work where the future of Connected Intelligence, Space, and Air Power takes shape. In an environment that offers vision, you will shape technological innovations across domains.

Our location thrives on dialogue: on campus, you’ll connect with a unique network of experts in satellite technology, military aviation, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, as well as tomorrow's Combat Cloud and Ground Support. Our collaboration is equally dynamic—in agile teams, we tackle the most complex challenges, from AI-powered Earth observation to secure cloud architectures. Anyone seeking technological excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration will find the ideal environment here.

Your benefits

  • Attractive salary and work-life balance with a 35-hour week (flexitime).
  • A final thesis is possible after consultation with the department.
  • Traveling within Europe is possible after consultation and agreement from the department.
  • International environment with the opportunity to network globally.

Your tasks and responsibilities

In the frame of the satellite integration and final verification of the spacecraft, it is necessary to process data generated during the satellite system test runs. This process is currently semi-automated. The objective is to increase automation of the test data processing and evaluation by writing respective tools and/or test scripts.

The used test data for developing the tool will be the data generated by the real satellite Flight Model. The candidate will be in direct contact with the Engineering team, AIT team and next to the real satellite flight models in the clean room.

The tool will improve the efficiency of the engineering and AIT team and have a direct impact on our day to day business

  • Link Budget Tool
Airbus has developed a tool to analyse satellite Telecommand, Telemetry and Missions Data Link Budgets; i.e. Radio Frequency Signal Waveform Definition, Transmitter & Receiver characteristics, Link Margins, Data Rate, Atmospheric Model, Orbit Position etc.
The selected candidate will make updates on this tool, document it and run test runs.

For both work packages the selected candidate will first get introduced into the respective tool environment and will be provided with documentation to familiarize with the topic (self-study). In a second step the tool shall be used in a sandbox mode. The planned updates/development will be specified with a leading engineer and then implemented and tested. Finally all updates shall be well documented.
