Introduction

ECBF is Europe’s leading specialist venture capital firm for the bioeconomy, backing pioneering companies that deliver both strong economic performance and systemic impact.

Our purpose is to unlock the potential of the bioeconomy by backing visionary companies that turn transformational ideas into high-growth businesses, reducing pressure on planetary boundaries and creating a future where economy and nature are aligned.

As the specialist VC for a regenerative economy, we invest in Europe’s most promising bioeconomy companies and help them scale through a rigorous science-driven approach, deep sector expertise, and hands-on support backed by a powerful network of industry leaders, scientists, entrepreneurs, and investors.

Together with ambitious founders, we accelerate growth across industries – from food to industrial solutions – creating lasting value for portfolio companies, LPs, and society.

With us at ECBF, you will have the opportunity to contribute directly to investments that advance an economy delivering growth, impact, and resilience at scale.

JOIN OUR TEAM AND HELP SHAPE THE NEXT GENERATION OF BIOECONOMY CHAMPIONS.

Your vision for your new job!

Are you looking to combine your analytical mindset, passion for sustainability, and interest in innovative technologies to help shape the ESG & Impact agenda of one of Europe's leading impact venture capital funds?

THEN ECBF IS YOUR NEXT DESTINATION!

As a Working Student in our ESG & Impact Team, you will work closely with our investment professionals and portfolio companies, supporting ESG & Impact reporting, developing smarter reporting processes, and contributing to the continuous evolution of our impact framework.

From day one, you will take ownership of a broad range of responsibilities including:

  • Support the annual ESG & Impact reporting process by collecting, reviewing and pre-validating ESG and impact data from ECBF's portfolio companies.
  • Prepare analyses and reporting materials by identifying data inconsistencies, validating ESG metrics and contributing to ESG & Impact reports, presentations and other stakeholder communications.
  • Collaborate with portfolio companies on ESG and impact-related topics, including data requests, reporting support and general ESG inquiries.
  • Drive process improvements by identifying opportunities for standardization, automation and the application of AI tools to enhance ESG & Impact workflows.

That´s why you´re a good fit for us!

  • You have completed your bachelor's degree and are currently pursuing a master's degree in natural sciences, chemistry, process engineering, finance, business, or a related field.
  • You are passionate about sustainability, impact investing, venture capital, innovative technologies and the bioeconomy.
  • You enjoy working with data and have a strong analytical mindset. Excel is one of your preferred tools, and you are comfortable preparing structured analyses that support informed decision-making.
  • You work independently, take ownership of your tasks and proactively identify opportunities to improve processes. Rather than simply completing to-do lists, you enjoy thinking critically, questioning inconsistencies and finding better ways of working.
  • Curiosity and continuous learning are part of your mindset. You are eager to explore new technologies - including AI- to improve workflows and are comfortable seeking advice from experienced team members when needed.
  • Ideally, you have gained first experience in ESG, sustainability, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), carbon footprinting or related fields.
  • Fluent English is essential. Knowledge of an additional European language would be a plus.

What you can expect from us:

At ECBF, you become part of a highly experienced, international, and entrepreneurial team with flat hierarchies and a collaborative culture.

You will gain direct exposure to some of Europe’s most innovative companies and technologies while helping shape industries that are critical for the future of our economy and planet.

Our experienced investment professionals will actively support your professional development and provide you with increasing responsibility and ownership as you grow within the organization.

Besides all of this, we offer you:

  • Fair compensation
  • Flexible working arrangements with remote work options
  • International working environment
  • Learning and development opportunities
  • A collaborative and purpose-driven culture

You can either work from our office in Bonn, Germany, or work remotely – this can be discussed.
