Location
This is a six-month internship based in Munich or Cologne. This is an in-person role. You learn this job by sitting next to people who already do it, and that does not work remotely.
About The Role
Think of this role as the modern Sherlock Holmes — new puzzles to solve and new people to work with, every single day.
This role sits exactly at the intersection of technology and business, and that is not a figure of speech. On one side you are in the system, in the data, working out what actually happened. On the other you are on a call with a finance team explaining it and agreeing what to do. You need both, every day.
Our customers run their finance and supply chain processes on blp. When something does not behave the way they expected, a document that did not post, an exception that should have resolved itself, a number in a dashboard that looks wrong, they write to us. That is where your work starts, and it is also where you become the face of blp for that customer. What reaches them is you: your answer, your explanation, your judgement about what to do next.
You will not be reading from a script and escalating. You investigate what the system did, what the data says and what the customer's process actually requires. You have the access and the authority to change configuration when that is the answer. And when it is not, you know who to bring in and what to give them.
The role grows with you. You start on cases where the pattern is known and someone is close by. As your expertise builds you take the harder ones, and your exposure to customers grows with it: from written answers, to calls, to being in the room when a customer wants their most pressing problem solved now.
This goes well beyond tickets. We are a fast-moving organisation and a lot of what needs to exist does not exist yet. You will take on and drive initiatives that make the whole operation scale: a recurring problem that should be solved once rather than fifty times, a piece of tooling that does not exist, a way of working that has outgrown itself. Interns here have shipped things that the team still uses.
How We Think About Ownership
You will be given real work with real consequences, early, because that is the only way anyone learns this job properly. The other half of that is judgement: explore and decide for yourself where you can, and pull someone in when something critical is on the line. Knowing which situation you are in is part of the skill, and nobody will hold it against you for asking. What matters is that you are the face of blp to that customer, and that you take that seriously.
Most of our customers work in German and you will be in front of them from early on. That is uncomfortable for about three weeks and then it is the best part of the job.
This is a real internship, not an observation post. You will be trusted with live customers quickly, with people close by while you learn.
What You'll Do
- Answer incoming customer requests through our support channel, and be the person they hear back from.
- Own incidents end to end: investigate, resolve, and confirm with the customer that it is actually fixed.
- Work out why a workflow, document or posting did not behave as expected.
- Adjust configuration where that is the right fix.
- Recognise when a problem is bigger than one case, and hand it on with proper evidence.
- Join customer calls to work through urgent issues directly, as your experience grows.
- Take on initiatives beyond the queue: things that should be fixed once rather than answered repeatedly.
- Document what you learn so the next person does not have to learn it twice.
What We're Really Looking For
We do not expect you to know ERP systems. We expect you to be the kind of person who gets to the bottom of things.
- Curiosity – You want to know why something works, not just that it does.
- Clear Logic – You take a messy situation apart, find the actual cause, and explain it simply.
- Customer Nerve – You stay calm and credible with a frustrated controller on the phone, and you can say "I do not know yet, here is how I will find out."
- Self-Driven – You close your own knowledge gaps without being told to.
- Ownership – You see things through without someone checking, and you know when to pull someone in.
What You'll Bring
- Enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's in business, economics, information systems, engineering, computer science, or something adjacent. Strong candidates from other backgrounds are welcome to make their case.
- German and English, both fluent. This is a hard requirement. Our customers work in German every day and our internal work runs in English.
- Strong analytical thinking and comfort working with data.
- Genuine interest in enterprise software, AI, and how large organisations actually run.
- Nice to have, not required: first exposure to ERP systems, SQL, APIs, or process modelling.
Where it leads
Our internship is the main entry point into the delivery organisation. Interns who do well are offered a permanent role, most often as a Customer Success Engineer or as an AI Automation Specialist, and from there the paths into Consulting and into project management are well travelled. We tell you early and honestly whether that conversation is coming.
What You'll Get
- Real responsibility from week three, not shadowing.
- A steep learning curve on live enterprise systems.
- Direct access to engineers, product managers, and the people running our customers' finance operations.
- Employee ownership – be part of a majority employee-owned company with a best-in-class stock option programme.
- Amazing team – become part of a driven and collaborative group of innovators.
- Visits & offsites – including collaborative team offsites.
