Internship or Master’s Thesis in Downstream Process Development (6 months)

AMSilk and its external protein production partners are expanding their industrial activities. At the core of this growth is our Development department, which is responsible for designing, evaluating, validating and implementing new, sustainable protein purification strategies.

For this internship or thesis project, we are looking for a motivated student with advanced knowledge of biotechnological processes and a strong interest in contributing to the further development of purification processes for silk proteins.

You will support the AMSilk Downstream Development team in planning, conducting and evaluating experiments focused on the scalable purification of small silk proteins for various applications. In this role, you will work closely with an experienced team and gain hands-on insight into the development of innovative biotechnological processes in an industrial scale-up environment.

Your Responsibility And Impact Within AMSilk Company Means To

• Plan, execute and evaluate lab-scale experiments for the development of new protein purification processes
• Screen and optimize relevant process parameters
• Prepare samples for analytical measurements
• Document lab work, experimental procedures, results and key findings in a structured way
• Support standard lab maintenance and ensure proper handling of equipment and materials
• Conduct literature research to support experimental design and process development
• Contribute to the development of scalable process concepts
• Evaluate experimental data and prepare results for internal presentations

Your Areas Of Knowledge And Expertise Are

• Independent, reliable and well-structured way of working
• Good knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
• Fluent in English or German
• Basic German language skills required, ideally B1 level or higher
• Willingness to work on-site in the Munich area, as remote work is not possible for this position
