Overview
StoneX Financial Europe SA (‘SFE’) is directly regulated by the CSSF and by virtue of passporting into other EU states indirectly subject also to other local regulators. It is authorized as a €730k firm, with wide ranging permissions with offices in Luxembourg, Frankfurt, Dublin and Madrid. The Luxembourg head office trades as principal (bask to back) in interest rate swaps, fixed income contracts, while the Dublin branch is an advisor in commodities and is permitted to ‘receive and transmit’ orders to affiliate companies in UK and USA. A newly established branch in Madrid is authorized to receive and transmit orders for clients to be place via the UK affiliate onto the London Metal exchange. This is a unique opportunity to get hands-on experience across a multitude of topics concerning accounting function of a financial services organization. You will be part of a international team and contribute to the preparation and analysis of our financials. You will be hands-on in our day-to-day business in various tasks, including accounts receivables & payables. You will assist projects to further develop our financial processes and best-practices. Your touchpoints will include the Finance & Accounting team and select stakeholders across the organization. During your internship, you will support us in processes and automation in finance and accounts receivable and account payables management.
Responsibilities
Position Purpose: We are seeking a highly capable working student to support the local controller in Frankfurt in various daily, monthly, and yearly financial tasks. The role will provide invaluable experience in accounting, financial reporting, and business analysis within a dynamic financial services company.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Daily Work:
- Support in invoicing processes and assist in the implementation of accounts receivable (AR) modules.
- Monthly Work:
- Assist with bank reconciliations and system reconciliations.
- Perform variance analysis of balance sheet and profit and loss accounts.
- Help with regulatory reporting and calculation of KPIs.
- Yearly Work:
- Assist in the preparation of Lagebericht (management report) and Anhang (notes) in accordance with German GAAP (HGB).
Qualifications
Early Careers Requirement Qualifications:
- Education:
- Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master’s degree program in Accounting, Finance, Audit, or Project Management (preferably with 2 years left to study).
- Skills and Experience:
- Strong knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and accounting principles.
- Advanced MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint skills; familiarity with database queries is a plus.
- Previous exposure to ERP systems (preferably ORACLE) and initial project management experience is desirable.
- Languages:
- Fluent in both English and German (written and spoken). French would be an advantage.
- Key Attributes:

- Ability to work proactively and independently, with a willingness to ask for help when needed.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
