Student Assistant – Robotic Hardware & Software (m/f/d)

Berlin  Robotics Engineering  In office  60-80h / month  ID 26003

Capandji is a Berlin-based deep-tech robotics startup developing the most advanced, anthropomorphic robotic hand in the world. As part of a consortium with Berliner Hochschule für Technik (BHT) and Technische Universität Berlin (TUB), we are applying to the SPRIND "Next Frontier Robotics Challenge" to build high-dexterity robotic systems for real-world applications.

We are seeking motivated Student Assistants to join our consortium across. In this role, you will work directly alongside our research and engineering teams on cutting-edge anthropomorphic robotic hardware, real-world perception, control algorithms, and hands-on manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Experimental Validation & Data Analysis: Assist in executing real-world robotic manipulation experiments, including data collection, annotation, documentation, statistical analysis, and testing control or perception algorithms.
  • Hardware & Mechanical Design: Support the hardware team in designing core components, including bone structures, skin and finger-pulp designs, electrical interfaces, and mounting solutions.
  • Manufacturing & Assembly: Hands-on involvement in assembling robotic hands, as well as documenting and streamlining the overall manufacturing process.

Qualifications

  • Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Core Competencies: Practical experience in at least one of the following areas:
  • Computer Vision (object detection, segmentation, or tracking)
  • Robotics (robot control, motion planning)
  • CAD design or PCB design
  • Soft material molding (e.g., silicone or polyurethane)
  • Software Skills: Programming proficiency in C++ and/or Python, ideally with practical experience in ROS 2.

Requirements

  • Project Duration: Fixed-term contract running from November 13, 2026 to September 30, 2027.
  • Start Date: Availability to start between November 13, 2026 and December 31, 2026.
  • Working Hours: Ideally available for 60 to 80 hours per month.

What we offer

  • Direct Impact: Work within a collaborative environment with flat hierarchies where your contributions directly influence project success.
  • Startup & Research Exposure: Gain early-stage deep-tech startup experience with opportunities to transition into full-time roles upon graduation.

We are building a diverse and inclusive team, and we encourage everyone to apply. Please, send us your CV, a brief note on your motivation and the ID of the job to [email protected].
