As a working student in EdgeAI technology scouting and evaluation, you will join the Edge AI Tooling & Methodologies team, helping us stay ahead of the curve by continuously monitoring the state-of-the-art, evaluating emerging technologies, and identifying relevant methods and tools worth enabling on NXP systems.

Key responsibilities:

Within the Edge AI Tooling & Methodologies team, we are looking for a candidate who is passionate about exploring the rapidly evolving Edge AI ecosystem and understanding how emerging technologies can create value for future products and solutions. You will be part of a team driving innovation in Edge AI through technology scouting, competitive analysis, and hands-on evaluation of state-of-the-art tools and platforms.

Your work will involve researching emerging technologies, analyzing industry trends, evaluating competing solutions, and assessing their relevance for Edge AI deployment across embedded and edge computing environments. Your tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor and research state-of-the-art developments in Edge AI, including model optimization, AI compilers, and inference runtimes.
  • Analyze and compare the capabilities of open-source frameworks, commercial offerings, and emerging tools through hands-on proof-of-concept implementations.
  • Create technical reports, comparison studies, and technology landscape overviews for internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to identify promising technologies and future innovation opportunities.
  • undefined

Preferred Skills

  • Solid understanding of AI/ML fundamentals, including deep learning (and GenAI), model deployment, and inference workflows
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python and ability to rapidly prototype and evaluate new technologies
  • Familiarity with Edge AI frameworks and runtimes such as ONNXRuntime, TFlite (Lite-RT), Executorch, Llama.cpp, or similar technologies
  • Basic knowledge of Linux, Git, and modern software development workflows
  • Excellent written communication skills for preparing technical reports, presentations, and competitive analyses

Your Profile

  • In an early stage pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field
  • Available parttime 18h per week (flexible arrangement) for at least 1 year
  • Ability to balance technical depth with a broader understanding of market and industry trends
  • Excellent English communication skills for collaboration with our multinational team across multiple sites
  • Enthusiastic about transforming technical discoveries into insights that support innovation and technology strategy

What We Offer

  • An attractive hourly wage of €19.40
  • 30 vacation days per year
  • Flexible working hours
  • The possibility to work in a hybrid setup
  • Access to an on-site cafeteria
  • Networking initiatives and Employee Resource Groups such as Young Community, No Extra Planet, NXP Equal, Women in NXP, and more — fostering both professional and personal exchange
