About Curetis
Curetis is a molecular diagnostics company based in Bodelshausen, Germany, best known for its Unyvero platform – a rapid syndromic testing system that helps clinicians identify severe infections and antibiotic resistances within hours instead of days. Our platform utilizes powerful multiplex PCR technology to detect a wide variety of microorganisms and antibiotic resistance markers, from sample-to-answer in under 5 hours.
We are now strengthening our assay development capabilities to expand our portfolio and bring new diagnostic tests to market. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to real product development in a regulated medical device environment (ISO 13485, IVDR).
The Role
As a Manufacturing Technician Intern, you will work in a regulated, precision-driven environment, assembling and testing electro/mechanical components, performing quality inspections, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. You will gain practical experience in a medical device manufacturing setting, working alongside experienced engineers and production teams.
What makes this internship unique:
You won't just be "shadowing" – you will receive structured on-the-job training and learn the regulatory frameworks that govern medical device manufacturing in Europe and beyond. This is a rare opportunity to build a foundation in quality management, regulatory compliance, and audit readiness – skills that are in high demand across the MedTech and pharmaceutical industries.
Your Tasks
· Perform precision assembly of medical device components and systems following detailed work instructions and engineering drawings
· Operate production equipment and perform functional tests, calibrations, and in-process inspections
· Assist with incoming goods inspection, final product QC procedures, and packaging
· Identify, report, and support the investigation of non-conformances
· Perform data collection, documentation, and work order processing in MES and ERP systems
· Support continuous improvement, 5S, and Lean activities on the shop floor
· Maintain cleanroom and controlled environments in compliance with ISO 13485 and GMP standards
· Support material kitting, inventory checks, and cycle count activities
· Collaborate with engineering and quality teams on process optimization and technology transfer to series production
What You Will Learn and Gain – and How We Add Value to Your Career
1. ISO 13485: Hands-on experience working within a certified Quality Management System for medical devices – the global gold standard for MedTech manufacturing
2. IVDR (EU 2017/746): Exposure to the regulatory framework governing in vitro diagnostic medical devices in Europe, a critical competency for any career in diagnostics or regulatory affairs
3. Audit Processes: Insight into how internal and external audits are conducted, including preparation, execution, and follow-up on non-conformances and CAPAs
4. GMP & Cleanroom Practices: Practical training in Good Manufacturing Practices and cleanroom behavior – foundational skills for any regulated manufacturing environment
5. Quality Management: Understanding of quality control, risk management, and documentation requirements that are essential for product release and regulatory compliance
6. Continuous Improvement: Experience with Lean, 5S, and process optimization methodologies that drive operational excellence
7. Career Development: Mentorship from experienced engineers and production leads, plus a clear pathway into roles in quality assurance, regulatory affairs, production management, or process engineering
We believe in investing in our people. This internship is designed not just to get tasks done, but to develop your skills and build your resume with tangible experience in a highly regulated, mission-driven industry.
