Global Risk Assessment Services (GRAS) is an innovative company providing information to ecological and social sustainability. GRAS helps agricultural producers, processors, brand owners, traders, NGOs, scientists and investors to review sustainability risks for individual suppliers, sourcing areas or countries. In addition, GRAS supports certification systems, certification bodies and auditors in objective sustainability analysis and verification of land use change.
If you are passionate about sustainability and would like to join our highly motivated and diverse teams to make a difference, we are looking forward to welcoming you as Working Student for the GIS & Sustainability Team at the GRAS head office in Cologne.
You will be assigned to one of the two teams according to your expertise and motivation.
Your tasks mainly include:
- You will review literature and evaluate available methodologies, data, publication, etc.
- You will process and evaluate GIS and Remote Sensing data under guidance
- You will prepare presentations and documents
- You will support in project work
Your profile
- Enrolled student in geography, geoinformatics, agriculture and forestry, agricultural economics and/ or a study with a thematic focus on topics such as sustainability, environmental and climate protection
- Good knowledge in QGIS or ArcGIS
- Experience in geospatial analysis and geodata processing
- Knowledge of programming languages is an advantage (Python, R, Java Script for GEE)
- Very good knowledge of spoken and written English is essential (at least C1)
- Ability to work in an international team as well as independently
- Pro-active working style and attention to detail
- Availability as a student assistant between 10 - 20 hours a week by arrangement for at least one year
- Good knowledge of standard software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
