The project "Article 6 Connect - Sustainable Development through Carbon Markets in Africa" is a global project with a team based in Germany, Ethiopia, and South Africa. The project supports the governments in Ethiopia, South Africa and potentially other African countries in developing the institutional frameworks and capacities needed for carbon market readiness. At the same time, the project supports the establishment of overarching cooperation mechanisms at a regional level. Article 6 Connect also supports the development of a joint approach by the EU and advises the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on the potential of international carbon markets.
