The Sustainability Hub advises the Executive Board of the Deutsche Bundesbank strategically on all sustainability issues, especially climate and environmental risks. The focus is on the macroeconomic and financial stability policy implications as well as aspects relevant to banking supervision and the financial market. The division develops the Bundesbank’s sustainability strategy further and manages and coordinates relevant work and contributions by Bundesbank in international bodies.

You will support us in analysing the macroeconomic and financial stability policy implications of climate change and climate protection for the core tasks of the Deutsche Bundesbank and the Eurosystem.
- Conducting desk research on climate-related and nature-related financial risks
- Analysing regulatory, economic and scientific developments relevant to central banks and financial institutions
- Preparing written analyses, briefing notes and background papers
- Supporting the preparation of presentations, talking points and briefing materials
- Supporting the coordination and documentation of meetings, workshops and expert exchanges
The precise focus of your work will depend on current projects, such as:
- Physical and transition risks arising from climate change
- Nature-related dependencies, impacts and risks
- Sustainable finance and disclosure requirements
- Implications of environmental changes for macroeconomic and financial stability
Special values: your qualificationsSpecial values: your qualifications
- Students in economics or finance or students pursuing a degree in environmental, climate, or public policy science, with demonstrated experience in economics, finance, or quantitative analysis
- At least in the 5th semester
- Current grade point average: 2.5 or better
- Very good written and spoken English, knowledge of German is an advantage
The following are highly desirable:
- Strong interest in climate change and its economic and financial implications
- Experience in conducting structured research and assessing academic, institutional and policy sources
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills
- Collaborative way of working in international and multicultural teams
- Confident using of common Microsoft Office applications
- Academic or professional experience with policy analysis, financial markets, central banking, sustainability or environmental risks

Wichtiges für Werkstudierende
Was dieses Praktikum im Bereich Forschung in Frankfurt für dich bedeutet: die Vergütungsregeln, die Sozialabgaben und worauf internationale Studierende achten sollten.
Wochenstunden
Praktika haben keine 20-Stunden-Grenze, ein freiwilliges Praktikum über drei Monate muss aber in der Regel mindestens den Mindestlohn zahlen. Pflichtpraktika im Studium sind davon ausgenommen.
Werkstudenten-RegelnSozialabgaben
Pflichtpraktika sind weitgehend von Sozialabgaben befreit. Freiwillige Praktika gelten ab einer gewissen Dauer als reguläre Beschäftigung, dann fallen meist Beiträge an.
Versicherung prüfenInternationale Studierende
Studierende von außerhalb der EU dürfen 140 volle oder 280 halbe Tage im Jahr arbeiten (seit März 2024, zuvor 120/240). Ein Werkstudentenvertrag passt meist in diesen Rahmen — prüfe die genauen Grenzen auf deinem Aufenthaltstitel.
