Our Interior Research Team at the BMW Group develops AI powered solutions for engineering. We combine CAD data, AI methods, and modern software tools to create the next generation of intelligent engineering applications.

What awaits you?

  • You support the development of AI-based solutions for processing and understanding CAD and 3D geometry data.
  • Furthermore, you help prepare, simplify, and structure CAD models for downstream AI applications.
  • In addition, you contribute to component and geometry recognition using modern AI methods.
  • Moreover, you assist in extracting and processing information from complex 3D models and assemblies.
  • Furthermore, you support the development of data pipelines, knowledge graphs, and intelligent engineering tools.
  • In addition, you help apply Python, AI models, and modern software technologies within a research environment.
  • Moreover, you contribute to shaping innovative digital solutions for future automotive development.

What should you bring along?

  • Studies in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Interest in AI, software development, digital engineering, and data processing.
  • Basic programming skills in Python.
  • Experience with CAD software and 3D geometry.
  • Basic knowledge of Machine Learning, APIs, or graph-based data structures is a plus.
  • Curiosity, analytical thinking, and a hands-on mindset.
  • Good communication skills in German and/or English.

Wichtiges für Werkstudierende

Was dieses Praktikum im Bereich Tech in Munich für dich bedeutet: die Vergütungsregeln, die Sozialabgaben und worauf internationale Studierende achten sollten.

Wochenstunden

Praktika haben keine 20-Stunden-Grenze, ein freiwilliges Praktikum über drei Monate muss aber in der Regel mindestens den Mindestlohn zahlen. Pflichtpraktika im Studium sind davon ausgenommen.

Werkstudenten-Regeln

Sozialabgaben

Pflichtpraktika sind weitgehend von Sozialabgaben befreit. Freiwillige Praktika gelten ab einer gewissen Dauer als reguläre Beschäftigung, dann fallen meist Beiträge an.

Versicherung prüfen

Internationale Studierende

Studierende von außerhalb der EU dürfen 140 volle oder 280 halbe Tage im Jahr arbeiten (seit März 2024, zuvor 120/240). Ein Werkstudentenvertrag passt meist in diesen Rahmen — prüfe die genauen Grenzen auf deinem Aufenthaltstitel.
