Job description
Lio (formerly askLio) published this listing. We've added our own working-student context below — what this role means for your weekly hours, take-home pay and student visa as a student in Munich, Germany.
Description provided by Lio (formerly askLio)
As a Finance Intern at Lio, you will play a role in building and scaling the finance operations of a fast-growing AI company. Backed by a16z and Y Combinator, we are building a category-defining product. Working closely with the Finance team and collaborating across departments, you will help design and execute processes, reporting structures, and records that you build with us to scale and automate as we grow.
What You'll Do
In this role, you will:
- Help build the foundation of a state-of-the-art finance operations function — designing scalable processes from the ground up
- Support accounts receivable processes, including tracking outstanding invoices and ensuring timely collection
- Take ownership of invoice documentation and filing, maintaining accurate and audit-ready financial records
- Contribute to the preparation of investor reporting, supporting both quantitative analysis and the accompanying commentary
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive finance workflows using AI-powered tools, helping us move faster and smarter as we scale
- Support ad-hoc projects across finance and revenue operations, including data analysis and one-off requests that inform strategic decisions
You are a strong fit for this role if you:
- Are available for a minimum of 4 months starting as soon as possible
- Are currently pursuing or have recently completed a degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline
- Possess strong Excel skills and a structured, detail-oriented approach to your work — experience with modern finance tools or automation platforms is a plus
- Are genuinely excited about the intersection of finance and technology, and curious about how AI can transform financial operations
- Demonstrate analytical thinking, proactivity, and the ability to translate complex inputs into clear outputs
- Adapt well to fast-paced, dynamic environments and shifting priorities
- Communicate fluently in English; proficiency in German is an advantage
At Lio, you won't just support finance — you'll help build it. This is a rare opportunity to get in early at a high-growth AI company and leave a real mark on the systems and processes that will power our next stage of growth. You'll work alongside senior leadership, gain hands-on exposure to startup finance and investor reporting, and develop a toolkit that combines financial rigor with modern, AI-driven ways of working.
