ABOUT GREENCODE VENTURES

Greencode Ventures is a specialist early-stage venture capital firm focused on applied AI across energy, industry and infrastructure. We back Europe's most ambitious founders building AI-driven solutions that accelerate the green transition and create a smarter, more resilient future. We are energy-native investors, industry specialists and former founders, headquartered in Helsinki with a team across Europe, including Essen.

YOUR ROLE

As a Working Student at Greencode, you'll be a part of our small, high-trust investment team, with a proactive role across deal flow and the investment cycle: sourcing, screening, due diligence and execution — plus broader exposure to how a VC fund runs day to day. Ideal for a Bachelor's or Master's student (Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics, Sustainability or similar) genuinely curious about startups, applied AI and the energy/industrial transition, who wants to learn by doing.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Deal Flow

  • Support sourcing and deal-flow management, and screen incoming startup applications
  • Conduct market and competitive research to support investment theses; prepare company profiles and deal memos
  • Assist with analysis and due diligence: data gathering, market and financial analysis and benchmarking, with exposure to valuation and exit-scenario thinking

AI Tools & Tech Stack

  • Help identify, test and roll out AI tools that make our investment and research processes faster and sharper
  • Extend and maintain our internal tech stack across sourcing, research, due diligence and reporting
  • Prototype small AI-assisted workflows (AI agents) and document best practices for the team

Market Intelligence

  • Track funding activity, technology trends and ecosystem developments; build and maintain databases of startups and investors
  • Help create and present sector deep-dives and thematic briefs for investment team discussions

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's programme, ideally Engineering or Computer Science
  • Genuine curiosity for startups, applied AI and the technologies driving the energy and industrial transition
  • Strong analytical mindset, excellent written and verbal English (German a plus), and great attention to detail
  • Organised, proactive and self-directed; comfortable working independently in a geographically distributed team

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Real work, real stakes: you'll contribute to live investment processes and see your work used in team decisions Direct exposure to experienced investors across our pan-European team (Helsinki, Essen, London, Geneva)
  • Flexible working model: part-time alongside your studies, based in our Essen office with hybrid flexibility
  • Competitive compensation and a genuinely mission-driven, curious team

THE DETAILS

  • Start date: As soon as possible / by agreement
  • Hours: 16–20 hours per week during term time
  • Minimum commitment: at least 6 months
  • Location: Essen, Germany
