We can offer you the following tasks
- Familiarization with the fundamentals of radial compressor aerodynamics, in particular the function and design of compressor stator vanes
- Development or adaptation of numerical computational models for a highpressure radial compressor with stator vanes
- Execution of CFD simulations to evaluate the reference design with regard to efficiency, pressure recovery, mass flow, and compressor map behavior
- Analysis of the flow fields in the stator vane region with a focus on loss mechanisms, local flow separation, incidence effects, and secondary flows
- Parametric investigation of relevant stator vane geometry parameters, such as vane angle, vane count, profile shape, stagger angle, and inlet/outlet geometry
- Identification of suitable optimization approaches to reduce aerodynamic losses and improve pressure recovery
- Geometric modification and numerical evaluation of optimized stator vane variants using suitable CFD methods
- Comparison and assessment of the optimized geometries based on defined key performance indicators, such as efficiency, pressure ratio, pressure recovery, mass flow, and compressor map characteristics
- Evaluation, visualization, and interpretation of the simulation results
- Documentation and presentation of the results
You Can Help Us With These Qualifications
- Bachelor / Master Thesis in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering or similar
- Knowledge in turbomachinery / fluid dynamics
- Experience with numerical fluid dynamics (CFD)
- Basic knowledge in Linux and scripting (Python, Bash or similar) beneficial
