Internship Topic - Your Tasks
Contribute to the development of next-generation IBM Z processors (Telum) with a focus on AI-enabled, high-performance systems:
- Analyze and optimize power/performance characteristics of processor designs
- Develop and evaluate simulation and debug methods for complex hardware systems
- Apply AI/ML techniques for fault analysis and system optimization
- Support toolchain, compiler, or high-level abstraction work for AI accelerators
Skills: Hardware design, simulation, data analysis, Python/C++, Scala/Java, OpenCL/OpenMP, AI/ML, Verilog, VHDL, Simulation environments, Processor Architecture Basic, compiler techniques, parallel programming depending on area of internship.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field
- Strong programming skills in C++, Python or similar
- Familiarity with development tools such as Git
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Collaborative mindset with a passion for innovation
- German language skills at B2 level or higher are an advantage.
- Familiarity with hardware development (e.g., VHDL, Verilog)
- Understanding of AI, machine learning, or power analysis
- Experience in compiler design or parallel computing
- Knowledge of simulation environments and fault injection techniques
- Exposure to scalable hardware design using Chisel, CIRCT, or similar methodologies
Wichtiges für Werkstudierende

Wochenstunden
Praktika haben keine 20-Stunden-Grenze, ein freiwilliges Praktikum über drei Monate muss aber in der Regel mindestens den Mindestlohn zahlen. Pflichtpraktika im Studium sind davon ausgenommen.
Werkstudenten-RegelnSozialabgaben
Pflichtpraktika sind weitgehend von Sozialabgaben befreit. Freiwillige Praktika gelten ab einer gewissen Dauer als reguläre Beschäftigung, dann fallen meist Beiträge an.
Versicherung prüfenInternationale Studierende
Studierende von außerhalb der EU dürfen 140 volle oder 280 halbe Tage im Jahr arbeiten (seit März 2024, zuvor 120/240). Ein Werkstudentenvertrag passt meist in diesen Rahmen — prüfe die genauen Grenzen auf deinem Aufenthaltstitel.
