We are currently hiring for an exciting opportunity as a Working Student (m/f/d) – Hybrid Solver Developer, Electromagnetic Simulation (SIMULIA-EMAG) to join our team in Darmstadt.

Are you passionate about numerical simulation, C++/Python software development, and solving complex electromagnetic engineering problems?

Our Hybrid Solver Team in SIMULIA-EMAG develops hybrid domain decomposition methods for simulating high-frequency electromagnetic multiscale systems for the aerospace, maritime, and automotive industries. We're currently extending our domain coupling method - moving beyond rectangular boxes to arbitrarily shaped volumes - by coupling multiple high-frequency solvers: FIT (Finite Integration Technique), TLM (Transmission Line Matrix), FEM (Finite Element Method), Integral Equation methods, and Asymptotic Methods. Join our team and help shape this development, step by step!

Role Description & Responsibilities

  • Support the investigation, planning, and implementation of extending the domain coupling method to arbitrarily shaped volumes
  • Work on the technical and numerical requirements for the solvers involved (FIT, TLM, FEM, Integral Equation, Asymptotic Methods) and the overarching framework
  • Iteratively develop new solution approaches and contribute your own ideas
  • Implement and test concepts in C++ and/or Python
  • Support the team with day-to-day software development and algorithm engineering tasks
  • Document your results and regularly exchange ideas with an international team

Qualifications

  • Enrolled at a university in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable field
  • Programming experience in C++ and/or Python
  • Ideally, experience with numerical simulation, FEA/FEM, or our electromagnetic simulation software CST Studio Suite
  • Independent, structured way of working and enjoyment of teamwork
  • Curiosity, analytical thinking, and enthusiasm for complex technical challenges
  • Fluent in German and/or English
