The Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated and curious Junior Smart City Advisor to join our Northern Europe team in Stuttgart, Germany.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to consultancy and innovation projects across smart cities, sustainable urban development, climate action, energy, mobility, and digital transformation. Working as part of an international and multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will support projects involving cities, public sector organisations, and innovation ecosystem stakeholders across Northern Europe.
The position provides an excellent opportunity to develop professional expertise in the smart city sector while contributing to projects that help cities and regions address complex urban challenges.
What You Will Do
• Contribute to consultancy projects related to smart cities, sustainable urban development, climate action, energy transition, mobility, and digitalisation.
• Conduct research and analysis on market developments, technology trends, innovative solutions, and urban development topics.
• Support the development of project concepts, strategic recommendations, presentations, reports, and other materials for public and private sector clients.
• Conduct market research and identify relevant technologies, companies, solutions, and innovation trends.
• Support stakeholder engagement activities and collaborate with municipalities, public sector organisations, companies, and other innovation ecosystem actors.
• Contribute to project meetings, workshops, and stakeholder interactions by preparing relevant materials, conducting research, and supporting project activities.
• Assist with the preparation of project deliverables, including reports, presentations, strategic recommendations, and other consultancy materials.
• Take ownership of assigned tasks and contribute ideas and insights to support the successful delivery of projects.

Tech Savvy: Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

Communicative Genius: Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in an international and multidisciplinary environment.
Your Profile
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Smart Cities, Urban Planning, Urban Development, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Energy Engineering, Sustainable Mobility, Business, Management, Geography, Public Policy, or another relevant field.
• Relevant practical experience in smart cities, urban development, sustainability, innovation, consulting, or related fields is highly valued.
• A professional level of English, both written and spoken, is required.
• Familiarity with German or any Nordic language would be beneficial for working across the region.
• A strong interest in smart cities, sustainable urban development, innovation, and emerging technologies.
• The ability to understand and connect different topics across technology, sustainability, urban development, and innovation.

Wichtiges für Werkstudierende
Was dieses Praktikum im Bereich Beratung in Stuttgart für dich bedeutet: die Vergütungsregeln, die Sozialabgaben und worauf internationale Studierende achten sollten.
Wochenstunden
Praktika haben keine 20-Stunden-Grenze, ein freiwilliges Praktikum über drei Monate muss aber in der Regel mindestens den Mindestlohn zahlen. Pflichtpraktika im Studium sind davon ausgenommen.
Werkstudenten-RegelnSozialabgaben
Pflichtpraktika sind weitgehend von Sozialabgaben befreit. Freiwillige Praktika gelten ab einer gewissen Dauer als reguläre Beschäftigung, dann fallen meist Beiträge an.
Versicherung prüfenInternationale Studierende
Studierende von außerhalb der EU dürfen 140 volle oder 280 halbe Tage im Jahr arbeiten (seit März 2024, zuvor 120/240). Ein Werkstudentenvertrag passt meist in diesen Rahmen — prüfe die genauen Grenzen auf deinem Aufenthaltstitel.
