Our clients are major energy companies and global trading houses who do physical trading of LNG and crude oil. They use our software daily to optimize their trading decisions and portfolio management. Our flagship product X-LNG is the leading optimization platform for LNG trading worldwide. .

About the Role

Real trading companies ask us hard quantitative questions about their LNG and crude oil portfolios. You help answer them. You write code, use our optimization software, and build new tools when the existing ones aren't enough. This role is client-facing: traders will reach out to you directly with questions, and you deliver the answers. You work closely with the CTO and interact with real traders at major energy companies.

Responsibilities

• You will code a lot, using AI tools like Cursor, Claude Code, and Codex and burn tokens
• Solve real trading problems by building quantitative analyses, models, and prototypes
• Develop quantitative trading case studies for clients using real market data
• Use LLMs and AI agents to automate trading analysis and client workflows
• Build and improve features in our optimization software
• Use Python for data science analysis and quantitative modelling
• Code also frontend if it helps to answer quantatitve client questions
• Translate complex client questions into technical solutions
• Support on general startup topics as they come up
• We will teach you everything you need to know about the commodity markets

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or a quantitative field with strong academic performance
• Solid Python programming skills
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development
• Strong mathematical foundation and analytical thinking
• Ability to understand a business problem and turn it into a quantitative or technical solution
• Interest in commodity trading, energy markets, or quantitative finance
• Self-motivated with a hands-on mentality
• Currently based in Berlin
• We will teach you everything you need to know about the commodity markets

Bonus: You've built a project or prototype using AI tools.

What to Expect

You will code a lot. You will also think a lot about trading problems. A steep learning curve in both commodity trading and AI-assisted software development. Direct collaboration with founders and senior team members. Exposure to global energy markets and enterprise clients. Responsibility for real deliverables from the start. This role is for people who want to be close to the problem and the codebase.
