Role Description

This is a part-time on-site role located in Leinfelden-Echterdingen for a Working Student/Intern (m/f/d) in Artificial Intelligence & Agentic Systems. You will be part of a team that is building the next generation of AI-powered tools for financial services. Your focus will be on developing and integrating intelligent solutions from prototype to production that make real impact on how we work and serve our customers.

What You Can Expect 

As a Working Student / Intern in our AI team at Daimler Truck Financial Services, you will be at the forefront of building intelligent, AI-powered solutions that transform how we work. Your responsibilities will include:

• Design, develop, and iterate on agentic AI systems that automate and enhance business workflows across financial services operations
• Apply context engineering techniques to improve prompt design, manage token budgets, and structure information flow for LLM-based applications
• Experiment with and integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) such as GPT, Claude, and open-source alternatives into production-ready prototypes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, data engineering, and business stakeholders to identify high-impact AI use cases
• Stay current on the latest developments in generative AI, agentic frameworks, and AI safety to bring fresh ideas and best practices to the team

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Business Informatics, or a related field
• Solid understanding of agentic AI systems, context engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Hands-on experience with Python, SQL, and familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and libraries (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, OpenAI API, or similar)
• Experience with FastAPI or similar frameworks for building AI-powered APIs and backend services
• Strong analytical thinking and a passion for solving complex problems with AI-driven approaches
• Independent, structured working style with a strong willingness to learn and take ownership
• Good English communication skills (written and spoken)

Nice to Have

• Basic understanding of data warehouse concepts, ETL processes, and data modeling
• Familiarity with Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Power BI
• Experience with cloud platforms (like Azure) and their AI/ML services
• Knowledge of vector databases and embedding techniques
