Since the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen was founded in 1737, teaching economics to students has been a core element of the university's research and teaching activities. Today, the Faculty of Business and Economics is one of the largest in Germany, with around 3,400 students enrolled and over 30 university professors, junior professors and six honorary professors working here. The faculty's diverse research activities are grouped into three core areas: Compliance and Governance, Marketing and Consumer Science, and Global Change and Development. The teaching spectrum ranges from broad-based bachelor's programmes in business administration, economics, applied statistics, business informatics, and business education to a differentiated range of master's programmes in the core areas of business administration and economics. Specific programmes are also offered in the fields of business informatics, business education, applied statistics, and economic and social history. A total of seven bachelor's degree programmes and eight master's degree programmes are offered.
